STAR CREATORS

Whos who this week in Nottingham's young creator communiuty

LAURA GOTT

Laura Gott was in the graduating class of BA (Hons) Fashion Design 2016 at Nottingham Trent University. The creative city environment of Nottingham has been invaluable during her studies and also in the start of her career. But lets hear more from Laura:

From town to city Nottingham was able to offer me a much wider scope of shops and attractions. I took a lot of inspiration from in-store market research and having such a wealth of shops on your doorstep has been invaluable. I believe there is a lot that we learn from the people and cultures around us. The city and university’s international community have provided cultural influence to my work, and again have aided research. I have specifically found that trend research benefits massively from speaking to a people from a variety of backgrounds and Nottingham offered me this platform.

I secured graduate job in the Nottingham company ‘Gunn and Moore’ as an Assistant Product Manager for Clothing which originated from winning a competition brief I completed in my second year.

Success within my degree and first steps in my career wouldn’t have been possible without the student life and creative culture Nottingham has given me, like everything a balance is key.

BETH NEEDHAM

Beth Needham was in the graduating class of BA (Hons) Fashion Design 2016 at Nottingham Trent University. Here Beth explains some of the key aspects of Nottingham which she found very helpful and inspiring:

Being in Nottingham allowed me to be part of a wonderful town full of creators and inspiration for my projects. I enjoyed visits to Nottingham Contemporary and Wollaton Hall to draw inspiration from and do onsite sketching. The creative environment is also teamed with a great infrastructure, which helps a young designer in the 21st Century. It has great transport links to major cities and lots of shops to help in the production of you work, such as Ideas on Paper, which was really good at printing and putting together my final year portfolio.
